Simona Bencini
Simona Bencini è la trascinante front woman dei Dirotta su Cuba, gruppo che ha portato, negli anni Novanta, il funky italiano ad altissimi livelli, registrando sei album, vincendo un disco di platino e nel 1997, partecipando a Sanremo con il grande fisarmonicista Toots Thielmans come ospite.
Intraprende la carriera solista nel 2005 con l’album “Sorgente” e nel 2006 torna a Sanremo con un brano scritto insieme ad Elisa, intitolato “Tempesta”, cantato anche in duetto con SarahJane Morris.
È stata nel 2010/11 la Maddalena di Jesus Christ Superstar con Max Gazzè e Mario Venuti.
Il suo primo disco di jazz, “Spreading love” esce nel 2011 e nel 2012 si riunisce alla band storica dei Dirotta su Cuba con i quali produce un nuovo album dal titolo “Studio Sessions Vol.1”, con ospiti eccellenti quali Fabrizio Bosso, Mario Biondi, Gegè Telesforo, Neri Per Caso, Federico Malaman.
Nel 2021, con la sua etichetta è uscito il suo nuovo album di jazz songs inedite intitolato “UNfinished”, con la partecipazione di Antonio Faraó, Fabrizio Bosso, Julian Oliver Mazzariello, Max De Aloe, Gaetano Partipilo e Mario Rosini.

Simona Bencini is the captivating front woman of the band Dirotta su Cuba, that took Italian funk to very high levels in the nineties. They recorded six albums, won a platinum album and in 1997, participated to Sanremo having the world famous chromatic harmonica player Toots Thielmans as her guest on stage. She began her solo career in 2005 with the album “Sorgente” and in 2006 she was back in Sanremo with a song written with artist colleague Elisa, entitled “Tempesta”, also sung in duet with SarahJane Morris. In 2010/11 she was Maddalena in Jesus Christ Superstar with Max Gazzè and Mario Venuti. Her first jazz album, “Spreading love” was released in 2011 and in 2012 he reunited with her historic band Dirotta su Cuba with whom she produced a new album entitled “Studio Sessions Vol.1”, played with excellent guests such as Fabrizio Bosso, Mario Biondi, Gegè Telesforo, Neri Per Caso, Federico Malaman. In 2021, her new album of original jazz songs entitled “UNfinished” was released on his label, with the participation of Antonio Faraó, Fabrizio Bosso, Julian Oliver Mazzariello, Max De Aloe, Gaetano Partipilo and Mario Rosini.
